Rules Change

Be aware that the NHLA rules committee will be reviewing any potential rules changes to be discussed this fall. Rather than waiting to react to the proposed changes, you may want to proactively contact NHLA to present any changes you would like.

Convention Update

We are currently making plans for our Friday night HDA event and need your input. Basically, the two choices are a dressy dining, experience or a casual, entertainment-filled evening. Please email your suggestion to Scott Heidler at sheidler@interaccess.com or fax to 773-847-7833.

Partnership Established

Last October 2000, Miller Hardwood partnered with their primary green lumber supplier to establish York Lumber Co. in Arcade, NY. This concentration yard, situated on six acres, includes an automated inspection line allowing for up to thirty sorts. Northern White Maple, Cherry and Northern Red Oak will be processed through this facility. For the most part, the Prime FAS production will move to their distribution yard in North Tonawanda, New York with the lower grades shipping green to end users.

The CO$T of Doing Business
Survey to be Mailed in March

Within a couple of weeks you will be receiving the worksheets for the "Cost of Doing Business Survey". The format will be very similar to past years. We will provide additional instructions to help you to provide the data. Please take the time to fill out as much of the information that you can. The final report will be summarized later this summer. Use your most current fiscal year data if your fiscal year is not a calendar year.

We will be using Murrill Eakes & Company again to summarize the data and produce our report. Of course, the information you provide will be held in the strictest confidence by the accounting firm. Results will be provided to participants and attendees of the annual meeting in New Orleans this September.

When your survey arrives please support your Hardwood Distributors Association and FAX or mail in your survey.
